Many people from many countries all using different languages can understand the 'language of dance'. It doesn't matter what their native language is.


It is very important that these dancers with so many different languages can communicate about their style of dancing, especially if they need to travel and perform in a different country.


In classical ballet the main language is 'French' so many of the important moves have been given French names.

You will find that Modern dance will very often use English terminology.
