Dancing the Chachacha-close to you

Orininally called the Cha Cha Cha, it's now referred to simply as the Cha Cha - one of the most popular of the social Latin-American dances.

The character of this dance is flamboyant and vibrant with a sense of fun.

This dance style only occupies a small area of the dance floor.

It can be danced to Cuban Music, Latin Pop or Latin Rock style.

The patterns of some of the moves of this style are similar to those of the Rumba.

The hip movement for this dance is achieved by alternate bending and straightening of the knees.

Steps are small and there should ne no rise or fall when performing this style.

When you first start to learn this dance it will seem quite fast, so take small steps at all times.

There are many moves to learn in this style - such as - The Fan, The Hockeystick, The Peek-a-Boo, The New York Overspill, The Zig Zag - to name but a few.

But don't be put off - start with the basic moves and progress once you are confident - it will take you no time at all to be moving around the floor.
