Harry Fox

Harry Fox - real name - Arthur Carringford.

The Foxtrot was named after him. In the 1920's he was married briefly to one of the 'Ziegfeld' performers - The Dolly Sisters.

He decided to call himself Fox after his Grandfather.

He performed in Vaudeville and it was his 'comic walk' which he did to ragtime music which became known as - 'Fox's Trot'.

He did make some recordings of some popular songs, he also starred in a couple of silent films - one of which was -'Beatrice Fairfax'.

His fame was short lived and by the 1930's he lived a life of obscurity.

In 1945 the biographic picture "The Dolly Sisters" was made.

He was married during World War I and this movie depicts the marriage and a subsequent devorce and a reunion, after the accident Jenny Dolly had.

He died on July 20th, 1959 at the age of 77 years in Los Angeles, United States of America.
