New York Jazz

Originating from New Orleans, Jazz was slow to be accepted by the general public.

This was not only because of it's cultural origin, but because it suggested people who engaged with this type of music had 'loose' morals and a low 'social status'.

Today it is widely accepted. Vocal and instrumental blues is a vital part of jazz today.

This includes, 'ragtime', 'swing', 'bebop', 'cool' and 'modern' along with 'New Orleans' and 'Dixieland', 'progressive' and 'free' jazz.
