Paul Liburd was born in Leeds.

He formed his career with the London Contemporary Dance Theatre but joined the Rambert Dance Company in 1992 and from this he won the Critics’ Circle Award for Outstanding Male Artist in 2004 which was shortly after joining the Scottish Ballet.

Being very technically strong with a superb stage presence, his dancing is outstanding and he has performed in work by some of the world's most best contemporary choreographers.

Some of those are - Mats Ek, Wayne McGregor, Paul Taylor, Christopher Bruce to name but a few.

His performances are many, including:-

The Nutcracker, The Pump Room, Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty, Pennies From Heaven, Forsythe’s Artifact Suite Robbins’ and Romeo and Juliet.

In January 2005, he received the Dance Critics’ Circle award for Best Male Dancer (Contemporary), then in 2009 he received the MBE which was for services to dance in the Queen's birthday honours and the Dance Critics' Circle Award for Best Male Dancer.
