Strictly Week 9

Strictly Week 9 - Live from London - courtesy of the BBC.

This week - Jade Johnson and Ian Waite came out of the competition as Jade had an injury to her knee.

This left only 7 couples to dance in the competition.

First couple to dance were Phil Tufnell and Katya Virshilas dancing the American Smooth.

Good start, a nice performance.

One judge said he was a little disapointed, but strong at the end. Another said it was a more determined performance. They said the dance suited him. One said he lost timing in one place but it was smooth overall.

The couple scored a total of 31 points.

Second up were Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe dancing the Jive.

A fast dance and it was a brilliant performance.

The judges told him to keep his standard of dancing up and to keep focused. One said his timing was out a little - but it was amazing. Another said it was full of power and energy but his kicks and flicks need to be more pointed. One said he lost his technique a little.

The couple scored a total of 35 points.

Third couple to perform were Ricky Groves and Erin Boag dancing the Vienese Waltz.

I thought it was quite a serious week for him he seemed more focused. He did a good job.

The judges said a step in the right direction, but he looked very tense this week. He coped well with all the steps. Another said he was more relaxed!!!! One added he did very well.

The couple scored a total of 29 points.

Fourth couple up were Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan - dancing the Paso Doble.

A strong performance.

The judges said they loved the attack of the dance, they felt the passion and it was an intense performance. One said it was 'awful' but he liked it. One felt it had aggression, but added he forgot to dance.

The couple scored a total of 30 points.

Fifth couple up were Laila Rouass and Anton Du Beke dancing the Rumba.

Laila had a leg injury - they had to stop as she was in so much pain, she was very upset.

The judges said it was difficult to score - they would mark on the little that she did - but added they enjoyed what they saw. It was just very unfortunate that she couldn't finish the performance.

The couple scored a total of 22 points.

Sixth couple were Natalie Cassidy and Vincent Simone dancing the Foxtrot.

I thought it was a good dance.

The judges said very 'prim and proper'. She had good body contact but it lacked 'freedom of movement' - but it was a good job. Another said it didn't have flow, but the routine was simple and good. 'Full of magic moments', her best dance so far one said.

The couple scored a total of 34 points.

Last couple to dance were Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna dancing the Cha Cha Cha.

A pretty sharp performance - some good moves.

The judges said technically very good, but a little 'polite'. One said she was very 'on the beat'. Another said the choreography was very good. Godd hip action, but too proper.

The couple scored a total of 35 points.

Votes were finally counted and the 2 couples with the lowest scores in the dance-off were - Phil Tufnell and Katya Virshilas against Ricky Groves and Erin Boag.

The couple the judges decided should leave were - Phil and Katya.
