The Turkey Trot

This dance style came about around the 1900's - and came from Chicago, Illinois.

This style was danced to fast music - it was a 'fun' dance to do.

It was basically an easy dance to master consisting of 4 hopping steps - feet apart - in a sideways motion. Alternating this step with each foot.

It had fast trotting like moves - then sudden stops - incorporating Flicks of the feet.

Some thought this dance to be immoral and tried to get it banned.

They said it was sexually suggestive!

This was a close partner dance - with Hugging of your partner involved.
